Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges.

What the course covers:

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.

  • Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.

  • How to interact with a person in crisis.

  • How to connect a person with help.

  • Expanded content on trauma, substance use and self-care.

Mental Health First Aid National Trainers:

Youth, Adult, teen, Higher Education, Older Adults,

Fire/EMS, Public Safety & Corrections

Learn the MHFA action plan:

  • Assess for risk of suicide or

  • Listen nonjudgmentally.

  • Give reassurance and

  • Encourage appropriate professional

  • Encourage self-help and other support.

Blended

Participants complete 2-hours of self-paced online pre-work before attending an in-person instructor-led session.  All materials are provided electronically.

Virtual

Participants complete 2-hours of self-paced online pre-work prior to attending an instructor-led session facilitated via Zoom (or other platform). 

All materials are provided electronically. Note: Participants must be present an on-camera throughout the instructor-led session(s).

In-Persom

A fully in-person instructor-led course held in 1-2 sessions. All materials are provided in hard copy.
